If you are a big fan of dressing up then the Easter Bonnet Parade in New York is where you want to be this Easter Sunday!

On Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, the folks lucky enough to find themselves in New York City have the chance to witness the madness of the Easter Bonnets parade. Paraders will wander along 5th Avenue from 49th to 57th street. In the locale of St. Patrick’s Cathedral is the best place to see the parade. It will take place from 10am till 4pm.

This is not a giant organised parade like the St Patrick’s Day Parade. It is a much more relaxed event. The area is closed off to traffic and people tend to just mill around with fantastic Easter Bonnets and Easter outfits. Many people even take the opportunity to dress their pets for the occasion.

There are no floats or marching bands, but it’s worth a look all the same. People come from all over the world to participate in this Easter bonanza.

Costumes range from the elegant to the bizarre, outfits accented with live animals to period costumes and the latest egg fashion, there is a little bit of everything on display.

There are all sorts of activities across NYC in aide of Easter. New York City Hotels and restaurants will be putting on special menus for Easter Sunday and many people will be taking part in Easter egg hunts.

Of course let’s not forget Easter is a Christian festival and there are plenty of churches where you can celebrate Easter properly.
